• For the 2026-2027 school year, you can do a late application through LAUSD Choices, however, GALA has never been able to get to late applications as we have over 1,200 girls on the waitlist who submitted an on-time application.
• For the 2027-2028 school year, visit LAUSD Choices website and the GALA application info page. Beginning the 2026-2027 school year, LAUSD moved GALA into the School for Advanced Studies Single Gender Academy (SAS) category. LAUSD Choices applications are open October 1 with a deadline of November 6, 2026 and they are NOT first-come-first-served. For qualifying applicants, LAUSD conducts a lottery for GALA. Check the LAUSD website for specific information.
• Late Applications: Families can complete a late application on the LAUSD website, however, due the volume of on-time applications and over a thousand students on the waitlist who submitted an on-time application, late applicants are unlikely to be considered.

 

• We HIGHLY recommend that you attend a tour before you apply to be sure GALA is a good fit for your family. You can watch videos HERE.

We can't wait to meet you! Before you RSVP for a tour, please read the important information below and visit the LAUSD website HERE or our application info page. Beginning the 2026-2027 school year, GALA is an School for Advanced Studies (SAS) Single Gender Academy with LAUSD SAS criteria for the application and lottery.

5th Grade and Up ONLY: In-person tour space is limited, therefore, they are ONLY for students/families in the 5th - 11th grades. If you are in 4th grade or below, please do not sign up for an in-person tour, however, you are welcome to sign up for our November virtual tour. Our new location is under a 2-phase upgrade project and you will get a much better idea what GALA would be like for your student if you only attend in the year your student will be applying for 6th-12th grades.

​​One Tour Only: Please only sign up for ONE tour. Any double bookings will result in both of your tours being cancelled. If you are a no-show to a tour and you book a subsequent tour, you will be placed on the waiting list and priority will be given to families who have only signed up for one tour.

In-Person Saturday Open House Tour: This is our ONLY Saturday tour. This tour is a presentation with our Principal and staff, a walking tour, and the Saturday tours offer an opportunity to talk with our students about their academic subjects and our current parents about their GALA experience. 

Weekday Tours: Weekday in-person tours offer a tour presentation and brief walking tour. We do not interrupt academic instruction, therefore, weekday tours do NOT visit inside classrooms. As a public school, we do not offer "shadow" days or private tours.

Virtual Zoom Tour: We offer one virtual tour in November. When you reserve your reservation, look at the dates carefully as there are no in-person tours in November.​​

In Person Tour Stand-by / Walk-up List: If you see a date highlighted on the RSVP site, a tour is available and you can click to sign up. If you do not see a tour listed, it means the tour is sold out. Keep checking back as there are usually cancellations on the RSVP site several days before the tour. All in-person tours have a "stand-by" list on the day-of a tour. You can only add your name to the stand-by list in-person 15 minutes before the tour. Any available seats will be released to that list. We do not take names for the stand-by list via email, you would need to come in-person on the day of the tour.  

Prospective High School Families: If you do not see an available tour listed, please email [email protected].

"I clicked on the link but I don't see the tour dates listed." This means that the tour is sold out. Check back as spots open up weekly when schedules change and families change their reservation. Seats for the October 29, 2026 in-person weekday tour will be released on October 1st at 8:00am. The November tour is virtual.

 

We are elated to announce that the GALA moved to its own campus as of August 2024. As an all-girls model, we believe our mission and vision will be fully realized on our own all-girls campus. Our new location is nestled and surrounded on three sides by the beautiful Mount. Saint Mary's Doheny Campus (the only all-girls college in Los Angeles), the area's historic Victorian mansions, and conveniently located within walking distance from the Expo train line. We have already partnered with Mount Saint Mary's and USC on multiple projects and we can't wait to continue those relationships. The location is 2328 St. James Place. In September 2023, the School Board also approved a 2-Phase campus improvement project that includes painting, upgrading, and adding bungalows.

LAUSD provides school bus transportation to GALA from select areas. We hope you are as excited as we are that we finally have a campus to call our own!
